(Anonymous) 2015-04-04 08:27 pm (UTC)(link)I don't think it's entirely accurate characterization, & I'd like it most if there's mutual give and take and mutual support. But it doesn't bother me in the slightest when he's characterized that way. I think I do tend to err on the side of Steve Rogers Is Better Than You so it's like... someone who writes Cap in that way is making a mistake, but they're pushing it the way that I kind of want it to go anyway, so I'm very comfortable rolling with it.

(Anonymous) 2015-04-04 08:32 pm (UTC)(link)I think I should be clearer as well. I do like when Steve is portrayed as the type of man who would do anything to help his friends and who strives to live up to his ideals.
What I dislike is stories that turn him into a "thing" -- the "perfect prize" for the woobie of choice where he's basically there to tend to them and not exist as an independent character with his own problems.
It's when people shove him into the "perfect boyfriend" mold that I get annoyed, because it's clear he's being written for the sake of another character rather than because the author has any interest in him as a character alone.
