I don't think fandom understands that "irredeemable" is subjective. What you might find an irredeemable flaw, I might not. It's especially bad when the flaw is "problematic," like the character being sexist or racist.

I get really bothered when people think sexism or racism or any kind of -ism is irredeemable, because it's like, guys, all of those things are institutionalized. If you really think they're irredeemable, how the hell are you actually gonna change anything? How are you gonna get rid of them? Here's a clue: you won't be able to! They'll always be there, because what you've actually done is given the fuck up!
