Regina stans try really hard. But yeah, she straight up admitted during the Neverland Arc she doesn't regret anything she's done. She's just mad she's getting consequences at all like a snotty child.

I'd be more okay with Regina's "redemption" and whatever if she actually showed true remorse for the things she's done. She never has. Any "remorse" has literally been tantrums because omg it's actually HARD to get people to like and trust you after torture, murder, and enslavement for 30 years! It requires WORK and having to accept that most people won't care. On top of other angsty whining and poor me pity parties when something bad happens. And sometimes she makes half-assed apologies that really don't make up for shit.

Then she claimed Henry was the most important thing to her or whatever and then everything with Robin Hood happened. I'm not even sorry that he and Marian left together. Regina is the reason Marian died originally in the first place (did Robin ever find that out?) I'm just glad she didn't die AGAIN.

This turned into an unnecessary rant but tl;dr. Regina is a bad mom and a bad person in general no matter how much the show tries to paint her as a sad woobie victim. The only reason she (and Gold) haven't gone the route of the other villains (aka dead) is because they're main characters and major moneymakers. It's not a biological/adoptive debate and never has been.

I do think the show has a weird thing with biological parents but that opinion has nothing to do with how I feel about Regina as a character. I usually blew off that aspect of the show because hey, Disney fairytales are very bio parent biased.

I DO think it's disturbing how the fans and now even the show try to erase her past. Same with Gold and Hook. It's really funny watching fans argue over who is worse (and therefor who deserves redemption) either Rumple or Regina when they're both awful.

A lot of the fairytales the show is based on in general were pro-biological, it's not just a Disney thing. Most often the horrible people were evil stepmothers. (I don't recall fathers, who are usually biological to the protags, ever being nearly as horrible).

AYRT Yeah I was originally going to just say "fairy tales" but at this point the show is more pure Disney then fairy tales and Disney plays it pretty loose with the stories they base things off of.

The fact the show went more pure Disney was one of the major reasons I quit. I didn't mind the occasional obviously Disney thing earlier on (like the costumes), because it's ABC. But it's so bad now and it's clearly an attempt to drag the ratings back up. The Frozen shoehorn brought the ratings up higher than S3, but iirc so far S4 has had some of the worst episodes ratings-wise.

I waited to see if S4b would be interesting, but Cruella de Ville? And retconning an awesome Ursula into a more Disney-like version simply named after the original badass Ursula? No thanks.
