Never saw the sequel but I thought Clerks was one of the most overrated movies I'd ever seen. Like what the hell is that dialogue supposed to be. Nobody talks like that ever.

I can take an over the top fantasy movie or action movie with bad dialogue, no problem. This one was attempting to seem casually realistic but instead had it's characters recite these unnecessarily long and witty monologues without as much as a stutter. Hell English isn't even my first language and I kept rolling my eyes constantly.

The movie is very much based in Kevin Smith conversation's with his friends. If you listen to any of his podcasts or interviews you'll see that that's exactly how he talks. Seriously, he's Randal.

But reality is unrealistic.

Clerks is just like every other AmerIndie movie: bad acting, dull dialogue, shitty quality film.

It's no worse than a lot of Tarantino's dialogue.
