Really?

I find them to be a lame-ass college AU of the TOS crew. Instead of elite professionals, we have this immature bunch of overwritten cliché personalities.

Kirk the playboy fratboy who thinks he's above the rules but we're supposed to see as a jerk with a heart of gold.
Spock is the stick up his ass "rival" to Kirk and instead of synergizing like in TOS they have to be set opposed to one another
Bones is the long-suffering best friend of Kirk who has to put up with his shenanigans
Uhura is the "perfect" girlfriend that's always right (even when she's not...)

It's awful

Well yeah.

I was kind of hoping for their reasons for it though.

Saying "it's different" doesn't really tell me much.

Especially given how much shit they manage to stuff into the reboots. White Khan. Fridged Amanda. Peeping on Uhura. The embarrassingly blatant Alice Even panty shot. I could go on, but do I need to? They don't even have the excuse of being from the 60s for god's sake.

Why do people get so upset at having their opinions challenged?

I come here precisely FOR the discussion and it seems like this site is set up with that in mind.

And why is giving thorough and complete answers bad. Instead of just dismissing someone's opinion with "ur dumb," I actually take the time and break down why I disagree with their points.
