I disagree but it's a pretty subjective thing so...eh...no biggie.

Body type wise, though, I think Lupita's a lot more like Nichelle.

Saldana's comparatively too slim, IMO.

Also, it's more that I think Lupita exudes the same type of warmth that Nichelle did. It's how they carry themselves which I don't think Saldana matches.

But whatever...my opinion doesn't count for shit anyway since I'm not doing the casting.

Lupita is as slim as Zoe is. In fact, neither of them has Nichelle's body type nor they have her curves.
It seems that in looking for a Uhura her body type wasn't a priority.

Like you said, it's a pretty subjective thing because Nichelle Nichols thinks she's perfect in the role instead. Can't make everyone happy though.

Well yeah. It's MY OPINION. I'm typing it so it's clearly MY OPINION.

I do think that, body-wise, Lupita looks more like Nichelle though.

Lupita's bmi is AT LEAST 18.7 (the lowest I've seen) though I've seen it go as high as 20.6 on some sites.

Saldana's is 18.0 (she's 5'7" and by said she weighs 115)

Most people estimate Nichelle's as being at least 19.8.

But again, it's my opinion. I think Lupita looks and holds herself a lot more like Nichelle than Saldana.

Look at that. Lupita is fucking stunning. And has a waist to hip ratio of 0.65!

Compared to Saldana's 0.78.

Lupita is gorgeously curvy like Nichelle.

But that's besides the point.

Looks aren't everything. And like I said, it's the poise and warmth and charisma that both Nichelle and Lupita exude that really works for me.

It's funny because I just looked up Nichelle's waist and hip measurements and they're:

23 inches and 37 inches, giving her an INCREDIBLE waist to hip ratio of 0.62 --> My god that woman had (and actually STILL has) a rocking body

Which is almost the same as Lupita's (whose waist is one inch larger)

They're also the same height: 5'5"

Can't believe you actually went looking for the ratio and you are having this argument. You obsession about this is depressing (and quite a bit dehumanizing).
They are all gorgeous ladies. Women come in all shapes and sizes and comparing apples to oranges is stupid.

Really? You seem to be obsessed about the looks and even though Zoe clearly looks more similar to Nichelle in the face, you deem Lupita more similar only for the size of her hips.
Can't say you fit with the cliché completely, though, since you don't seem to include their breasts size in your math. At least.

Of course you take it as me saying that Lupita has no curves which is not surprising because it doesn't seem to even compute to you that slim women can have curves too.

I'm not ignoring, just not going to dispute your personal opinion on that unless you say it's a fact. In that case, I will tell you that it obviously is not because both Nichelle Nichols and me think that Zoe has these qualities and makes a great Uhura.

And you're wrong. Lupita DOES have the same curves as Nichelle. They're the same height with the same measurements (although Lupita is ONE inch bigger at the waist).

So...yeah...I'm gonna take issue with you completely ignoring math and claiming that Lupita has the same slim body type as Zoe. She doesn't. She's MUCH MUCH closer to Nichelle. And that's not a matter of opinion -- it's a matter of ratios.

I'm not sure what's your point here, but actually no they don't have the same curves. If breasts still count as curves too then I hate nitpicking but Lupita is an AA cup while Nichelle must be at least a C, if not a D. That alone ruins your 'ratio' calculations.

Even so though. Zoe Saldana is an A cup which still leaves Lupita MUCH closer to Nichelle's body type than Zoe even with breast size in mind.

But you're right that I didn't consider that, I was thinking more about how Nichelle's a very classic hourglass figure in regards to ratios.

You keep talking about ratios but your definition is all over the place. The classic hourglass figure is by definition a combination of curves both above and below (a very tight) waistline.
Lupita has a pear shape figure (jlo, shakira )

Zoe (b cup) has a hourglass figure in a very slim body so it becomes more obvious as she puts more weight on.

What?

Lupita is: 34-24-37 (although I've also seen her at 33-24-38)

Nichelle is 35-23-37 or 34-23-37 (according to the sites I've seen)

Zoe is 32-25-32 or 34-25-34

Either way, Lupita is without a doubt MUCH closer to Nichelle.

Even if Zoe puts on more weight to accentuate her hourglass, both Lupita and Nichelle have smaller waists and bigger hips than her so I'm not sure what your point is.

Note that I'm not saying that an hourglass is SUPERIOR or anything. Just that Lupita's measurements are closer to Nichelle's than Zoe's are.

Zoe looks much more like young Nichelle in the face, this is the real disagrement with your original point. The rest is fucking nonsense.

I only brought up the stats as evidence to why I think Lupita's body type is more similar to Nichelle's than Zoe's.

Also, I disagree that Zoe has a more similar face. I think Lupita looks WAY more like Nichelle.

And, yes, I do think some people notice. I always liked that Nichelle, while extremely toned and curvy, never in any sense fit the definition of skinny. It's always something I admired about her and one of the things I really like about Lupita as well.

Tbh, I don't even get what's their point anymore but it's gross.

Turns out that Lupita is the same height as Nichelle and they have the same hips size and Lupita's waist is only one inch larger.

So...yeah. Maybe you might not want to say someone doesn't have curves because all it takes is a five second google to call them out on their bullshit.

I simply pointed out that Lupita and Nichelle have basically the same waist and hip measurements and are of the same height.

So saying that Lupita and Zoe are slim whereas Nichelle is curvy is a poor argument when you look at the stats alone. Unless you're talking about breast size but I was talking about the hourglass shape. Which is what I believe most people are talking about when they say "curvy."

And the other anon is the one who started all this talk about body types. I initially mentioned that Lupita looked more like Nichelle to me (which is my genuine impression) and only brought up the statistics because other anon was trying to insist to me that Lupita and Zoe are slim where Nichelle is curvy. And the math doesn't bear that out.

When we're talking about curves, waist to hip ratio is a significant factor which CAN indeed be measured mathematically.

And given that I was talking about how I felt that Lupita's body type was more similar to Nichelle's than Zoe's was, I figured that bringing up the measurements would be pretty good evidence of what I was talking about.

When I say "slim" I mean more "willowy" rather than "curvy." If that was unclear then that's my fault and I apologize.
