Barely/poorly developed, fairly bland dynamic, and the circle-jerking 'if you like what we originally did you're a homophobe' posts afterwards just soured me on the whole thing.

The whole finger wagging 'yes, bisexual people DO exist!' thing coming off of Bryke is what gets me.

They were well and perfectly happy saying Makkora was endgame when there was just one season, even going so far as to say 'these kids were made for each other!' and now they're suddenly on the bisexual movement train?

More like the 'we swing whichever way our ratings boost' train.

That's pretty much how I feel. I'd have been fine if they had said they wanted a different direction later on, but the whole 'hetero lens' thing came off like they wanted to retcon their original ending and were going to throw the fans of the first season under the bus to get it.

Well, back in the day J.K. Rowling quipped that she'd dropped "anvil-sized" hints that Hermione and Ron were going to be a thing as a way to jab at fans that were on the wrong side of canon. This has always been a thing authors want to do I think, that is, they want to chastise the portion of the audience who so loudly don't understand the author's shipping preferences. But fast forward to 2015 with an audience like Tumblr, sprinkling in bullshit SJ terminology with veiled insinuations that you're problematic if you aren't on the author's side would be the obvious thing to do yeah?

Man, don't you miss the days when J.K. Rowling implied you were a buffoon in a cheeky interview instead of a homophobe in a Tumblr post.

I'm going to go play some Bob Dylan.

I really agree here. I'm mean I'm still glad that Korrasami is canon (holy fuck) but it wasn't done in the best way. But then again would Nick even allowed it?

Probably not. From what the creators said, Nick wouldn't let them do more than imply they were a couple on the show. Basically, the closest they could get was that whole scene right before the went into the spirit world in the finale.

And yet Nick did a whole 'top five korrasami moments' or whatever on their website. I'm calling bullshit on that. Bryke just didn't bother asking until s4, because their ratings were tanking.

anon nick did that after the fact. if we're going to talk theories of what happened behind the scenes one could easily argue that they only did that once they realized how popular korrasami was.

If you can't see an implication in telling people who didn't see what they didn't put in had a strictly 'not gay' lens, than you're just being purposely obtuse. Get over it.
