If I disagree with someone I love, I don't stay silent or pretend to agree in order to "support" them, and I don't expect them to do that either. Sorry, that's just really weird to me.

I think we have different definitions of what "obligated" means.

For example: I'm obligated to be polite; I'm a jerk if I'm not. But there is no rule saying I must say please and thank you. I do so because I don't want to be a jerk. I am obligated not to be a jerk. But not being a jerk is still voluntary.

Me arguing with Noodle doesn't mean I'm not "over it." It means I no longer have a reason to have discussions with him in private rather than on a forum. I am no longer obligated to shield him from weird anons claiming that any disagreement is drama. I was never somehow forced to agree with him on the internet.

Ah, I that clears that up. I too took the word "obligated" as the antonym of "voluntarily".

I think it's bad form to argue loudly with ANYONE in public. But I don't think that disagreeing with someone necessarily means you're "arguing loudly" with someone. It's quite possible to have a civil disagreement, and I don't think people should feel they can't civilly disagree with their SO when around other people. I find that idea creepy, honestly. A couple is still two individuals, they're not a hive mind. And they shouldn't be expected to be.
