Yeah.
I mean, I loved the original supermarionation version, and whilst I think that TAG suffered some hurried pacing in the pilot and some iffy CGI, it's pretty neat. Besides, the work that WETA put into the miniature sets is amazing.

It was. A generation of Britons is nostalgic for it, for the exact same reason their parents were nostalgic for the "British Restaurants" of the rationing era, and the same reason soldiers returning from India would continue ordering "gin and tonic" despite no longer being at risk for malaria.

Because English culture, like English cuisine, is based on the fact that you can get used to anything, no matter how objectively awful.

*laughs* I know, it just feels like... I dunno, me complaining about a Barney The Purple Dinosaur remake being awful. IT WAS ALREADY AWFUL TO BEGIN WITH. Or Care Bears. (Okay, so my husband actually likes Care Bears, because he somehow missed it when it came out so thinks it's the most glorious gay thing ever, but he's crazy.)

Personally, I love it, especially the fact that the sets are miniature live action sets, but I can see why one wouldn't. Helps that I've seen stuff like TCW, Rebels, NCS, even some TMNT.
Besides, it;s not as bad as 2004 Thunderbirds or even Terrahawks (shudder)

I find it interesting that the original Thunderbirds inspired the aesthetic of The Clone Wars -seriously, if you've ever wondered why they all look like marionettes in that show, that's why-, and then several years later... here we are, a CGI Thunderbirds cartoon (that vaguely reminds me of Clone Wars, visually). Though I'm curious about the timing of this secret... was this done before or after you saw the pilot, OP?

IMHO, I don't think it looks that bad. At most, I appreciate they're trying to stay true to the visuals of the original series, but I also get it's not everyone's cup of tea.

That said, it's def. on my list of shows I'd like to watch, but I'm going to hold out until more episodes air and/or I can legally watch it (seeing as I'm, yanno, 'Murrican, haha).

Seconded. Have you heard at all when we're meant to get it here? Most of the reviews I'm seeing from the papers have been positive.

I haven't heard anything. I don't think any North American networks have expressed interest in bringing it over here yet. I'd probably give the series a few more episodes, if not an entire season before something is announced for international distribution. Fingers crossed, anyways!
