Soulbond - yeah, it could be a little skeevy to only have that one person for you, etc., but I like the idea

I also really love skeevy power dynamics but it specific circumstances.

Yeah, if I think about it at all seriously, it's so skeevy. But when I'm reading it I don't care. It's the purest form of escapism.

I think a lot of that is also the appeal of a lot of shippy AU fic for me. It's like, you put people in all these situations, and ordinarily the kind of behavior, where people will just, like, meet and immediately be in love with each other, would be weird. But because you know it's your OTP or whatever, it's like, "Okay, yeah, I accept that, because I've already bought in on this".
