Power dynamics in sex. I almost don't read straight up vanilla sex scenes anymore. They just seem so boring and all the same.

Extreme hurt/comfort with emphasis on the hurt and then on realistic comfort. Sometimes just straight-up hurt fics. I like torture fics. I also like fics with realistic psychological fallout from torture.

Anything that involves sacrifice hits my emotional buttons. Things like Harry's sacrifice in Deathly Hallows or things like the Nova Core in Guardians sacrificing themselves to give the Guardians the chance. Anything like that.

There are too many fics that have unrealistic comfort/recovery periods. It is very annoying. :

Yup. Healing cock is the worst. But then again, hurt/comfort isn't wank material for me. It hits other buttons. The psychological stuff is really what I'm in it for.

Yeah, it isn't wank material for me. It just annoys me when there are like 9 chapters of hurt and 1 chapter of comfort/recovery.

I agree. I'm okay with hurt only fics, but if an author is going to attempt comfort then I want some realism. And some sense at the end that the work isn't finished. If your character spent three chapters being tortured, I don't want them completely happy and healed at the end with no sense of lasting affects.
