I just realized that's true for me as well. I can't stand the slice-of-life fics which are basically just Clint using/talking about the hearing aids in front of one or more Avengers, everyone but Natasha is GASP! So surprised!, and that's it. Bad cases have Natasha glare at the others once Clint has wandered off again and soapbox a bit about how Clint is still the bestest and it doesn't matter and if anyone makes a fuss about the aids she'll skin them alive, blah blah.

If it's actually worked properly into the fic (happened on a mission, finding ways to make it work with Coulson/Natasha/character of choice, etc.) I don't even care. In so many cases it just feels like it's done for SJ points that I skip fics if I see the deaf!Clint tag.
