I'm like...one of maybe three people on f!s not to loathe this film, but I liked this scene and it did make me cry. Granted (as I've said many times), I cry at everything so this is no major achievement. I have a thing for Kirk/Spock and it doesn't matter to me that these two characters don't have the same history, the fact that Kirk was 'dying' so soon after he and Spock had started to bond (and had been through quite a bit together at that point, though obviously not comparable to the original Kirk and Spock) made me sad.

But then again I was actually excited to see that scene played from a different angle because the original is one of my favorite Star Trek scenes.
