I did read that upthread.

Again, I don't think he's asexual in canon but I also don't think that his sexuality has been explicitly explained in the show, and that's fine to me. Fandom ships what they want regardless of word of god.

The first episode A Study In Pink Sherlock and John are having an awkward meal where relationship status and sexuality are discussed, awkwardly. Sherlock makes it plain that he is 'married to his work'. Later in the series, when Irene Adler is introduced it is made blindinly obvious that Irene is the exception to Sherlock's rule. So, pretty well stated without using a blackboard and chalk.

Well to be fair the "married to his work" line could just as well be Sherlock wanting to give John an answer while avoiding specifics, but I see where you're coming from.

I never got the feeling that Irene and Sherlock had anything, but thought she left him pretty damn confused.
