What part of the secret even mentions slash ships? Also, there are no canon slash ships being pushed as romance. Call me when there are at least 5 big movies in theaters (in the span of 1 year) where two guys get a cliche/boring canon romance.

I used to go to the movies every week and try to watch a new movie every time and the amount of times the main guy and main girl end up together reguardless of the genre is ridiculous. If it's an important part of the story, then it's fine. Most of the time it's just romance for the sake of filling the movie cliche checklist and people actually like those kinds of pairings.

In regards to OP's secret Spock/Uhura is a good example of an unnecessary het ship especially considering the original characters were never a couple.

Another example is Kili/Tauriel. Even though I kinda like the idea behind that pairing and I liked Tauriel as a character even though she wasn't in the book, the romance was completely unnecessary.

If you say that you don't understand people who ship boring and poorly written het ships, there's at least a strong implication that you do understand people who ship boring and poorly written non-het ships

I mean, it's not, like, logically entailed, but it's a strong implication in English as she is spoken

I agree that there's plenty of shitty het romances around, don't get me wrong

+1

Op's bitterness is obvious.

I love this belief they have that het ships are automatically useless (never mind spock/uhura that is interracial and might be representation for the ones who care) while having the romance between their faves (the two hot guys) is such a necessity for humanity abd so useful. Hypocrisy y/n?

You do realize that the alternative for Makorra is…wait for it…Korrasami. Which is a CANON queer relationship between two women of color…right?

Why's it gotta be in movies? Just because you really like that form of media doesn't mean it's the only one that counts.
