I like his books for younger people (Coraline, The Graveyard Book, Stardust), but I've never gotten into his adult books.

I do like his kids books better. I suppose that suits his style.

Oh hey, us too! (Though we've never tried Stardust. It really just doesn't look like our thing.) The kids here LOVE the Graveyard Book, and the movie version of Coraline. (The book was fine, they just latched onto the movie like leeches to a freshly fed vampire.)

I've read Stardust twice, and it's one of the books that for the life of me I can't remember the plot of. It's like each time I finish, I close the book, and then immediately can't remember what the plot actually was.
The only other book that's happened to me with is Howl's Moving Castle, but I quite like that book so at least I get to experience reading it for the first time more than once XD

I usually only get that with books that I devour too fast to really absorb. Though that said, I remember nothing of Howl's Moving Castle either.

Coraline, Neverwhere, and Good Omens are very good.

(Anonymous) 2015-04-09 09:26 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, those and I also really like his short story collections.

Quite a few people on FS share this opinion.

I swear all the Gaiman secrets we get know are wank bait.

I thought that before my second read-through of American Gods. Then I decided he's aight.

*yawn*

This is starting to get boring.

Yeah. It was fun the first couple of times, but now they're gotten repetitive.

DA
Pretty much. I've always loved Good Omens (mainly for Pratchett parts) but NG's work always bored me. And I know I'm not alone on this one.

Unrelated: are you the same Ophellia as from the [H]ouse fandom? It's been many years and I am under the influence tonight but I always have fond memories of your posts in that fandom.

Unfortunately I am not, anon. :(

I used to watch the show in its first couple of seasons, but I never got into its fandom.

I think you misunderstood. It's these secrets that are starting to get boring.

(Anonymous) 2015-04-09 09:25 am (UTC)(link)
That's what I was saying the last time. It's really becoming like all those post-Avengers "OMG GUISE Loki-is-so-overrated" secrets.
