There are times when I legitimately want to read fic about one property or another and (even if it's bringing in other parts of the MCU) don't want to catch any that doesn't contain it.
Looking for, let's say, Guardians of the Galaxy fic amongst the Thor and Avengers would suuuck.
Not to mention the TV shows. Agents of SHIELD fic tossed in with everything else without being able to separate it out wouldn't be ideal.
When I want to read any MCU at all, I'll just go to the Marvel Cinematic Universe fandom page.

(Anonymous) 2015-04-09 12:10 am (UTC)(link)I wish there was a way for the tags to stay separate like that, but for individual authors to consolidate them in the list of fandoms on their personal works page. I like being able to browse individually for Iron Man or Captain America tags, but on my profile I wish I could have my MCU fics, regardless of what other individual properties they fall under, all just under one Marvel Cinematic Universe tag. I don't write prolifically enough that I like having three fandoms listed on my profile for just one fic.
