Or maybe they just like you? I mean, there's no way for me to know for sure, but you shouldn't assume the worst.

I've never been close friends with a BNF, but I'm not sure how much one could get out of 'vicariously living the experience'. Maybe there is something I'm missing, though.

I do find the sentiment expressed in the secret quite bizarre and think OP is being paranoid and maybe exaggerating how important the 'BNF experience' is, but mostly I'm just confused as to why she would come to this conclusion.

I am probably paranoid but that's why it's a secret.

I also realize that my BNF experiences have involved a lot more RL experiences with cast of show in question than people who're BNFs for their fan art and fic, so naturally this secret sounds quite extreme. But there's no fun in f!s if you can't make anonymous people hate you from time to time, hehehe.

I don't hate you! (And you should keep making secrets because that's how the comm survives. Good on you for helping.) It takes a lot more than a f!s (Not even a particularly bad one) to make me hate someone. (You were probably talking about anon, but I want to make that clear.)

I did think you were an artist or author and didn't quite get it... I thought you might be exaggerating a bit for drama, but if you've had regular contact with the celebs in your fandom I can understand the secret a bit more.

I mean, for me...if you talk about these encounters I might read your posts, but that would be the end of it. Unless I wanted to be your friend for other reasons, I wouldn't bother following you around or trying to befriend you just for that connection.

Now I'm well aware everyone in fandom is not me, so there might very well be people who want to be your friend for this reason, I just don't personally understand it.
