Yeaaaaa, I find that incredibly rude. Even if I wasn't a major fan of the person in question, if they were offering to send me a shitton of books I would at least say, "Wow, are you sure? If you're certain, I'd be overjoyed! Thanks so much!"

OP could've given them to a library or something. (Though if this person is that big a fan, they'll probably appreciate the books regardless of where they came from.)
