I'm not sure what you mean. Of course if you're a fan of the show/book/movie/anime then you have to endure the canon romance even if you hate it.

Believe me, people who love Star Wars definitely HAD to watch the Anakin/Padmé romance. And many didn't like it at all.

If you like Qui-Gon/Obi-Wan though, you're not forced to watch that. You have to actively go and seek it out so of course no one's going to be criticizing it the same way Anakin/Padmé are.

(For the record, I'm a HUGE Anakin/Padmé fan but I do feel bad for the people who hate it and are forced to watch it because they enjoy the other parts of the movie.)

DA. They're probably referring to the people who write fanfic for shows they've never even seen. Fanon of fanon, I guess. I find it weird, personally.
