There's no such thing as childish! I still watch cartoons. The media we make for children has to the best quality, because kids will see it in their formative years, so the media aimed at children is generally better than the one aimed at adults. Not sure where the teen's media stands. On the one hand it's supposed to be high quality - formative years and all. On the other hand teens might as well consume the adult's media, so there's no huge difference between the two.
Anyway, the grayscale guy is cute.

It's good that they have kept you going. I'm glad you're here.

I'm glad it helped you keep going.

Also, I adore animation and I sometimes get in moods where that's all I want to watch. Keep on watching and reading what you love.

If it helped you, it helped you. I used to obsessively read books and comics about children/young teens having happy lives (or at least, lives that had happy elements in them that weren't going to go away) when I was dealing with depression, because it made me feel better, and I still have nostalgia for those books and manga because they were some of the only bright spots in an otherwise horribly dim and dreary time of my life. Nothing wrong with that.

People who try to dictate what you should and shouldn't like re generally full of bs anyway. you like what you like, and maybe also what you need at that time.

The kind of media I consume is cartoons and E-rated games (ie. Nintendo and similarly "cutesy" ones), and seeing all kinds of characters get along despite their differences and everyone being such good friends always makes me feel sad about my own life. I've dealt with a lot of bullying in my life and have had so many fair-weather friends that I'm jealous of the tight-knit groups of characters on my favorite shows. That's probably one of the reasons my favorite games have a degree of customization to them so I can make "myself" and go on adventures and interact with characters who treat me like I'm one of their friends, even if they are just programmed dialogue.

I think that's the attraction of Animal Crossing game where everybody's friendly and nothing much happens.

It sounds like some of that stuff is past tense now? I'm glad you had it to lean on OP. Anime, cartoons, and comics are great.

Text: For a long time, I couldn’t watch television shows with actual actors portraying ordinary people, because it kept reminding me of the fact that I was alone, had no friends, and was constantly bullied in my town.

I used to think it was shameful that the only media I could stomach was animation, and comics, but now I realize that I’m grateful for those “silly, childish things” because they were the only things keeping me going.
