People are going to hate me for breaking the chain (sorry!), but I kind of feel you. Sometimes I skip commenting on secrets for fandoms that I know the majority of f!s dislikes because it can be a bummer. Of course people have the right to their opinion (and I don't mind negative comments/opinions in general, I have them too), but sometimes you'll have people come along and say, "You have shit taste, how can anyone like this drivel?" and it just makes me go, "Okay?!" (Once someone got hostile over me liking The Hobbit films and seemed to think I needed to start all my comments about them with, "I know they're absolutely dreadful, but". I DO know they aren't perfect, but Jesus...)

If someone pulled that with me I'd be rather "STFU" at them. Yes, I agree the Hobbit movies are not perfect but they're still a fun romp when you turn off your nitpicky side.

I replied until it was clear they weren't going to stop being unreasonably angry then said, "Okay, this is pointless, I'm done."

I've heard plenty of reasonable arguments and complaints about why the films aren't that good, but if I want to talk about something without constantly prefacing it with, "I know this thing sucks", I'm going to.

Yep, same here. I won't apologize for liking movies that lead me to RP that I love (and in RP I can fix what I didn't like anyway).
