In the novel Wicked, Vinkus is the correct term and Winkie is derogatory. I was discussing my own Baum based writing and was told not to use Winkie, and instead use Vinkus by a Wicked fan.

See, this is what I mean when I say people are treating Wicked as part of Baum's canon.

That is... freakin' weird.

I mean, besides the fact that that's a Maguire thing, not a Baum thing, Winkies don't ACTUALLY EXIST. There are no Winkies you can harm or oppress by calling them such. It's like, a cornucopia of wrong.
