I think it's worth it nonny. It's a pretty big fandom, so while there is proportionately a lot of AUs and crapfics, it has a lot of gems and decent stuff. People complain about the art, but I never had a problem with it (it has kind of a messy look to it) and in its defense, it's one of the few anime/manga where there's a lot of variety in the characters noses.

It has a lot of good characters.

The fandom has its toxic batshit fans, but honestly? Pretty much any fandom that was born onto Tumblr as the main fandom place as opposed to forums or LJ/DW is going to have a fair share. It's not hard to avoid the wank and the drama. eta: unless you're an Ereri shipper, in which case your ship tags are going to be spammed with furry porn by a butthurt kinkshaming 15-year old. If you're just looking for fic though, Ao3 has it so the tags aren't that relevant.

It has one of the best kinkmemes I've seen.
