Honestly, I'm lost on most of that stuff. I just go with it half the time.

This is basically me with time travel. There's plenty I don't understand and I try to sort it all out in my head, but if you want to enjoy it eventually you have to go, "This is time travel, let it go".

(I don't remember what exactly I had an issue with, but I had what was probably an hour long conversation with a friend about the time travel in X-Men: DOFP. She eventually told me to give up because our talk had accomplished jack shit in terms of understanding what was going on.)

I'll try and explain it, but I can't promise I'll be any good at it. ^^;

Rory v.1: Grows up with Amy, goes on the adventures, dies and is swallowed by a crack.

Plastic-Rory: Created by Amy's imagination as a Auton/robot. Accidentally shoots Amy (because he's a robot w/ robotic programming), helps the Doc put her in the Pandorica, and then spends the next 2000 years taking care of it. The doctor flies the Pandorica into the exploding TARDIS, and "reboots" the universe.

Rory v.1.2: Is the rebooted-universe's Rory. He's a human being, and thus can die of old age via Weeping Angel.

Man, the universe reboot via exploding TARDIS seems to me like the Who version of "Superboy punched time."

Seriously. Fuck time travel. It just makes everything confusing. (Says the guy where time travel is a major part of at least two stories...)

From what I can remember, he didn't have his memories at first (up until the wedding), until Amy brought back the Doctor into her universe, and called up their memories.

After all the Auton!Rory was made from Amy's memories+crack in the wall, then the reboot universe was created by Amy's memories+crack in the wall+exploding TARDIS, so it made sense to me, in a weird way? ^^;

I stopped watching regularly not too long after that, and even though I've read plot summaries or the seen the occasional episode, I still have no clue what's going on. I also find it hard to care. :(

Don't worry, Anon. You're not alone in losing track of the plot intricacies of New Who.

Stephen Moffat did, too.

This is what drives me crazy about Moffat, it's one thing if the fans can't keep up but Moffat should be able to keep track of HIS OWN canon.

And I don't mean the entire 50 year history of who, I mean he can't keep track of his own canon within a season.

I can accept differences between showrunners but I like a little consistency when we're talking about events that are really close to one another.
