Where is all this happening - nah, too easy.

Maybe it's better than when I find a show of interest I never venture into the tags.

Ehhh, not so bad if you go into character/ship tags.

In my experience ship tags are the absolute worst thing to go into. I know nothing of this fandom, but I do know SJW crowd has taken a liking to it. And I know they have a tendency to accuse everything of being problematic even if it's not... especially ships.

That's pretty much the approach I have with anything I get into now these days. Hell, I chalk it up as the big reason why I still like Old Republic and Guardians of the Galaxy after all this time, 'cause I'm so oblivious to what the larger fandoms are like. Ignorance, bliss, et al.

Plus, with the way Tumblr's tag system is set up, it's why I don't even bother complaining/crying about people "tagging character hate" or w/e anymore, but that's part and parcel of having a tagging system that is very much open season for any and all to use however they please, whether we agree with said opinions/sentiments or not. :T

I don't know why people stay in fandom if they hate it, I mean I just talk to one tumblr friend about SU and look at the cute art and that's it. You don't have to stay in a fandom, you can enjoy the show without the fandom. Like honestly, every fandom I've been in has been a steaming shit-hole so I've decided they're not worth the trouble. Just stay out if you don't like it.

I don't.

That was literally half of the statement in my comment.

Unless you just mean this in general, then my mistake.

Replied to your comment by accident, it was supposed to be a general statement. :)

I'm sick of this mentality. It's not as simple as it sounds. I DO want to discuss fandom related stuff. I LIKE getting to know people with similar interest and following artist and writers that I like. Nobody would stay in fandom if it was 100% stressful. There is still something good to hold on to and there are still some good people, except now you have to sift through the shit and drama to get to it. Despite my best efforts to filter it, it always comes through. Even if I just follow a couple blogs and only ever look at them, these blogs might get hate messages or pulled into bigger fandom drama.

Some fandoms only have one place where everyone gathers and everywhere else is either dead or inactive. If you are satisfied with just searching fics on ao3, then good for you. Some writers don't have an account there or they post side-stories and smaller fics onto tumblr. As for art, what, google search? There are so many great artist on tumblr, some already established and some are new. You'd be missing a lot of it if you weren't actively searching the tags.

Yep. Pretty much. I'm scared to go into the tags of my fandom. Only if I'm in a really shitty mood that it can't possibly get worst do I venture into tags.

I swear my current fandom canon is so innocent and there is nothing problematic about any of the characters or relationships, since it's just fluff and humor. However, since there is nothing problematic people are just shamed for shipping period. Because the local SJW headcanon certain characters as asexual/aromantic and it's a mortal sin to portray them any other way. They can't throw around their usual buzzwords, so they just shame people for not appreciating queer platonic relationships.

Nothing is safe. It really sucks that that is where the majority of fandom congregates. No other place is active so I feel so trapped.
