Just a note here:

The whole "you can't call them woman they're agender!!!" thing really, really does not feel like a true gender SJW debate to me. Know why? Because people started whole-heartedly throwing that tantrum after the Ruby/Sapphire reveal. It feels a lot more like straight up homophobia masquerading as a gender argument to me.

"They're not lesbians, they're agender!!111!"

There are already people on top of that making arguments that Ruby/Sapphire aren't romantically involved, despite it getting confirmed by writers of the show. And then the whole Rose Quartz/Pearl thing.

Basically, it has nothing to do with SJW. It's just a bunch of people who hate lesbians.

Eh, "using the terms and tropes of social justice as a masquerade to make your irrational hatred of some group sound more legitimate" is pretty typical of SJWism.

It's the kind of thing that distinguishes it from actual social justice.

Like, Ruby and Jasper are the only characters Ive ever seen this fandom use "they" for in spite of clinging so hard to the agender thing (which is blown wildly out of proportion) I think there definitely is lesbophobia involved but it's also very much "these characters are more masculine so they cant possibly be referred to with she/her" which is, ah, the opposite of how progressive wrt gender this fandom thinks it is.

how? lesbian is a decisively feminine term. you can't say your gender isn't wholly female and then use go using words that say you're comfortable being called a woman.

SJW hate binary and say that you can totally be a lesbian if you're agender or some sort of genderless blob wolfkin, so I doubt it.
