Hmm, I found Xenoblade's system pretty standard, but maybe watching a gameplay video might help you see if you can give it a chance? You will need to manage a lot of special attacks and warding off enemies, so I can understand if it seems too overwhelming regardless. Unfortunately, the sequel has the exact same style of play since Takahashi wanted it that way (well, the gameplay with mechs added. MEEECHS).

I've played every game in the series that made it to other countries, but now that so many RPGs are becoming RTB-based, I'm starting to get very used to the style. Xenoblade's feels the most balanced between the two systems in my head, but I've also played the Final Fantasy XV demo, Final Fantasy Type-0, and currently play FFXIV, so it's probably just major bias after being "forced" to learn even faster modes. I still love Xenosaga's battle system a lot, but I haven't seen anything like it in a while.

The cutscenes have been out for ages, though, so at least you have a chance to experience some portion of it if the game turns you off. There's also no way to miss the music! I have battle themes memorized after hearing them for a hundred hours, even with dialogue and juggling talents.
