Re: female characters

There's not just one "type" that I want more of.

Because I want multiple female characters. I want women who aren't just "the chick," I want women who talk to each other, who are friends, who build each other up rather than tear each other down. (Though I wouldn't say no to the sort of rivalry that brings out the best in both characters. As long as it's not over a dude.)

I want women who are at the center of their own stories. Who have agency. Who aren't just the love interest or the damsel in distress or dead in the backstory to motivate the male protagonist.

I want women of all ages and races and sexual orientations (including "no thank you"), I want fat women and skinny women, I want beautiful women and ugly women, I want women who conform to society's expectations of what's "feminine," and ones who don't, and maybe especially women who don't feel limited to either "girly" or "tomboy." I want women living with disabilities.

I want female heroes and female villains, as well as characters who straddle that line.

I want female characters who are just as interesting, complicated, and multilayered as male characters.
