I am this close to dropping two old friends out of sheer frustration. They're terrible at keeping in touch, terrible at replying to e-mails, and I know for a fact both of them have NO problems with internet access. They've got plenty of time to fart around on tumblr, but no time to respond to an e-mail. Which, you know, would be FINE except that every once in awhile one of them comes roaring back with a huge update about their lives, they ask how I've been, I reply, and then... /crickets

So the friendship isn't completely dead, but it's doing so badly I'd like to turn off life support but every time I do, the relationship gives a strangled gasp and starts breathing again. I feel so petty, because it's not like I don't like them and want to be friends, it's just I hate being the friend they only want to talk to (or rather, talk AT) once every few months.

Shit. Your friends sound like me

Sorry. I don't mean to be hard on anyone, it's just frustrating and hard not to feel hurt when people demonstrate over and over again that they'd rather organize their Pinterest page or play Farmville than talk to you. I feel like we don't have much of a connection anymore because we're no longer a significant part of each other's lives. I'm not asking for a lot here, just chatting through e-mail a couple times a week like we used to.

NAYRT - I know exactly how you feel. Honestly, I just gave up on those friends. It's hard at first, I know it is, but you realize you're better off with friends who are actually friends.

We may share friends.
