I get you OP, I really get you. I have nothing against het romance in fiction, but so much of it is unnecessary, cliched, and shoehorned in. And we, the audience, are supposed to eat it up, because "sex/romance!!"
(Meanwhile, there are never any queer romances.)

That someone would be intolerant about love getting represented is something that will stop to be OOT for me, especially since in comparison there aren't that much complains about other stuff that is also everywhere and quite 'useless' like mindless action and gratuitous violence

I see no difference between cliché het romance and cliché friendships between broody heterosexual white men that make a big amount of the media we consume.

Wait, but that's not at all what AYRT or even many of the other comments are protesting - love getting represented, I mean. We're very obviously tired of what seems like only one kind of love getting representation. There could be less white dude bromance too, but that's not as comparable because the sub-category being discussed is romantic love.
