(Anonymous) 2015-04-15 12:56 pm (UTC)(link)Why is bringing up fandom to the actors/writers a crime?
Re: 2 questions
Bringin up fandoms to TPTB is Not The Done Thing because fandom has traditionally been very careful about staying below the radar, due to the unclear legal status of fanworks. Writing fanfic is harmless fun until someone sues you for putting it on the internet. This mentality is a lot less relevant these days, though.

(Anonymous) 2015-04-16 01:46 am (UTC)(link)Tinhatting is essentially what type_wild stated above. It sort of evolved out of the stereotype of alien (and government) conspiracists wearing tin foil hats in the belief it shields the brain from threats such as electromagnetic fields, mind control, and mind reading. An example might be snapewives (http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=snapewives).
When I included bringing up fandom to the actors writers, I was thinking more about people who bring it up not as a general question or comment, but rather in a specific manner (accusatory: Why haven't Anti-HeroCharacter and HotLibrarianCharacter gotten together yet?, awkward: I write a lot of (smutty) fic about ThePaladinCharacter and TheKlutzCharacter, is there ever any spark between you on set?, uncomfortable: I believe TheTricksterCharacter is demisexual and I'm glad it's being represented, what's your take on it?). Mostly, these would actually fall under faux pas rather than crime, but some are worse than others depending on the forum, how caught off-guard the writers/actors are, and the specifics brought up.
