Never!!

But I do make a giant pot which I then proceed to reheat in the microwave because it's easier than making 2-3 individual cups per day.

Wouldn't reheated tea would be grosser than tea made with microwaved water?

Microwaves are not for making tea. Reheating things, yes. Never making tea.

Different teas steep better at certain temperatures. My kettle has a thermometer.

If you're reheating it, then it's already been steeped properly.

Short version: no.

Longer version: No, because microwaved tea doesn't boil the water properly in the first place for steeping. But for reheating, you don't want boiled tea, just hot tea, so a microwave for reheating purposes is, if not idea, then vastly better than microwaved tea.

Tell me about it. My SO used to boil water in the microwave when I first met her and I was deeply disturbed.

My father does this, and thinks I am absurd for dirtying up a pot to boil water on the stove.
