Wow! I had no idea there was a family of pro wrestlers! That's so interesting!

Maybe he was a bit nervous about doing the voice work? Or hadn't quite trained himself up in that area yet? Either way, I'm glad he's getting to do more, and I hope his career does well! They both seem like nice men, from what little I've heard.

Wrestling seems to be something of a family business? Off the top of my head I can think of one other famous family: Dusty Rhodes, who is very famous, and his sons Dustin (Goldust) and Cody (Stardust, who were tag team champs.

I had no idea! I mean, I suppose it makes sense, I think sumo wrestlers also have families involved. I suppose I just never thought about pro wrestling as being big enough that whole families would be involved in it.

There are actually LOTS of old wrestling families--there are currently a few third-generation wrestlers on the WWE roster. I think in part it's because it's a business that (until recently) has been shrouded in some secrecy, so it became a family secret handed down?

Another really famous family is the Hart Family of Canada (you can see their family tree here: http://i.imgur.com/vLdZo7S.jpg). And Bo Dallas and Bray Wyatt, both on the main roster, are brothers--their father, uncle, and grandfather were all wrestlers. Others I can think off of the top of my head include Curtis Axel, Randy Orton, Paige, Charlotte, Tamina Snucka, Jimmy and Jey Uso (both from the same family as Reigns and Rock)...it's a crazy business!

Wow! This is really fascinating!

Thanks for the all the info, anon. None of us know jack all about pro wrestling, so this is just fucking cool. How did you end up getting into wrestling fandom?

I might as well just log in at this point, lol. And I just kind of stumbled backwards into wrestling! I hated it when I was younger because it looked so violent to me, so when I got older and found out the violence was choreographed I kind of fell in love with the idea (characters pretending to hate each other while actually working together is my Kryptonite). I decided to write a wrestling AU for one of my pairings, and to do that I had to do more research about wrestling and watch more of it...and at some point the research became actual fannishness and by then it was far too late. :)

I'd never thought of it that way! That's a good point, and does make wrestling more interesting. I expect they'd have to work together, to keep from getting seriously injured doing the stunts they do.

Oooh! What fandom did you write your AU in?

Oh, the moments where you can catch the wrestlers working together--or when one of them might be legit injured and the other one covers for him and gives him time to recover--give me life. :)

The fusion AU is with DC Comics, lol! It works out well because Clark Kent and Bruce Wayne are the wrestlers and Superman and Batman are the characters in the ring, which is very fun to write. :) It's called Heroes of the Squared Circle and at 53 chapters I THINK it's going into the home stretch at last...

Aw, yay! I like the idea that they work together, even if they're playing enemies!

I never thought about it before, but superhero stuff is like, PERFECT for wrestling AUs. I mean, they already dress the part, and a lot of the drama around pro wrestling is very similar to superhero comics!
