Re: Hobbit Movies and/or Tolkien books
I'd expand the Dol Goldur scene in the final movie. Too short.
I wouldn't feel the need to have Azog as a central villain. I didn't mind his character, but you don't need that sort of personal villain in Tolkien. LOTR didn't have it except sort of Saruman. So I'd just have him for the first movie then not bring him back.
I'd give a bit more character to the other dwarves.
I'd put in more Dain and make it clear that he's the king now that Thorin is dead (though maybe that's in the extended)
Re: Hobbit Movies and/or Tolkien books
(Anonymous) 2015-04-16 05:58 am (UTC)(link)I agree about Dol Guldur, though I would've done it completely differently (no Galadriel falling down or going wraith, etc.).
If Tauriel were done differently, I would keep her in. She should either be Thranduil's daughter (so, young, spoiled, good-hearted but not someone in power - I swear the way she was in the movie only makes sense if she's his daughter and earned her position through nepotism) or a competent captain whose concern is for her king's well being. Actually, if she was the most racist elf in the entire movie (and only deviated a little or not at all by the end of her arc), I think her character would've been a 100 times more interesting.
