Peppermint Patty as strictly gay wouldn't really hold water if they read the strips. Part of her schtick is that she wants to be more 'girly' and have boys like her, but it doesn't ever work out for her. And Marcie has a ton of guys she likes, including Franklin.

I saw tumblr wants to make Schroeder Asexual, too. I think they forget they're children. I think it'd be hilarious if they ever saw the strip where Schroeder kisses Lucy.

Having no investment in the sexuality of Peppermint Patty I will say that overcompensating for your sexuality as a kid is kind of a huge thing and a kid with lesbian feelings could theoretically overcompensate for that by aspiring to be overly feminine or trying to get a boyfriend desperately

I wouldn't call it overcompensating. She's a character that wants to be something else, but doesn't really know how/fails terribly when she tries to do so.

One part that comes to mind is when Linus kisses her on the cheek and tells her some day she'll meet a guy who will tell her she's beautiful, and she gets really happy about it.

Tbh at this point they (patty and marcie) have been read that way for so long that textual support is almost beside the point.

There's nothing wrong with an interpretation, but canon wise, I don't think Schulz wrote them as gay. Especially when you get strips like this:

To be fair, Peanuts has had controversy before. Like the strip that was taken as racist, but Schulz defended pretty strongly.
