...What exactly does that say about you?

(Anonymous) 2015-04-17 11:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Wait, what does it say about you?

I would have just thought that it was just because prompts with obvious spelling and grammar errors stick out more.

*Puts on faux psycho-analysis hat*

Perhaps you think people with more spelling mistakes have lower standards, and are less afraid to disappoint?

(Anonymous) 2015-04-18 04:08 am (UTC)(link)
That was what I immediately thought. People with bad spelling and grammar either have low standards, so OP won't give them a story that disappoints them, OR, and this is the clever bit, if in fact they don't like the story, they're obviously an idiot with bad spelling and grammar, so who cares what they think?

It took me a second to catch the typo in that picture. Interesting how conditioned we are to see certain things.

Maybe prompts with spelling mistakes suggest the prompter is not a writer themselves and so can't fill their prompt for obvious reasons, and so there's more of a need for you to fill it? Or maybe you just find it charming.

You're an ardent populist raging against the harsh strictures of standardized spelling?

I honestly have no idea what it says about you.

(Anonymous) 2015-04-18 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
Because there's a multitude of reasons why someone might make spelling mistakes: enthusiasm, inexperience, laziness, carelessness, unnoticed typo, misreading (when you read what you've written back and your brain interprets it as what you thought you wrote and not what you actually wrote), apathy, etc.

Text: I’m more likely to respond to kink meme prompt containing spelling mistakes.

I don’t like what this says about me.

Maybe you assume that since their prompt has typos, they will be less discerning about the fill.
