the only thing i liked about the last episode:

finally after 8 months i don't have to pretend to like her anymore. i hated her since day 1, but i kept it a secret because "peace-obsessed princesses are a tumor on mecha anime and there's no good reason for them to pop up wherever there are giant robots just because gundam had a few that weren't useless" would've had me called a misogynist fujoshi.

now the whole fandom hates her because she's an idiot and a tyrant and got away with it because she's an author darling. i couldn't be more pleased to have a good reason to hate her and the agreement of the fandom.

b!s: in my headcanon, she was successfully assassinated by a rogue terran liberation faction immediately after the last scene cut to the credits.

She was more a plot device than a character ( much like most characters in this show). I don't understand how anyone can like her. Even her sister had more personality, and she a secondary character, not a main one like Asshime.

Well an unintentional reversal, in a classic case of telling and not showing. We are told she's good (like the secret says, she's an author darling) but with a little but of thinking beyond what the show spoonfeeds you about her, she becomes horrifying.

Sure. People call Inaho a gary stue with no personality? Fine. People call Asseylum a Mary Sue with no personality? MISOGINY.

Most fans liked Lemrina and hated Asseylum for a good reason: Lemrina was a good character, Asseylum wasn't. It has nothing to do with hating women.

It's like she was the true antagonist of the series, we just didn't realized it.

Also, none of her actions in the second course made a lick of sense. Vers whole system was fucked up and she didn't do anything but keep the status quo where the knights still hold power and the people of Vers still live underground farming for the counts. Good job, hime.

Real talk though, I'm only on the outskirts of this fandom but the Asseylum hate gives me intense second hand embarrassment. It's so vitriolic, nasty, and full of double standards. I haven't seen character hate this intense in an anime fandom for years, and that's no compliment.

So congrats on being 'right'. Even if I did hate her, I wouldn't want to admit it because 90% of her anti-fans are so damn embarrassing.

Lol at using "the whole fandom" to mean the Slaine stan hivemind and the most obsessed shippers. The fandom as a whole is one of the most horrible ever but there are decent parts of it when you step outside of tumblr.

What I don't understand is why so many people seem to be bummed out that Asseylum didn't turn out to be the Sacrificial Princess after all.

She always was shown to be strong-willed, flexible, pragmatic, and lucky as all hell. What did they think would happen, anyway?

They thought Slaine would kill the terran cast, let Asseylum die or even kill her, then conquer and or destroy Earth and this would somehow be possible, in character and a good ending. I don't even know, man, but that's what I read in some Slaine fan posts. I'm not sure what anime some of the fandom thought they were watching.
