Yes in that we are/were all believers in minding one's own business, living and letting live, following the Golden Rule, respecting even those you didn't necessarily agree with or approve of, and generally trying not to be an asshole if you can help it.

No in a lot of the finer specifics and on a few key sticking points. They were well-off mainstream Catholic Republicans (these days I'm pretty sure they'd be written off by their own party as 'RINOs.') I'm a more or less agnostic struggling moderate Democrat.

I think I'd say we're fairly similar morally, in terms of how we think people should treat each other in a broad sense, but different politically and ideologically.
