That's a pretty tall order, but maybe you could try asking on your fandom's kinkmeme, if it has one? That seems to be the best way to get more rare things written. That, or look for someone to do a fic swap with.

I feel like that's a really, really risky AU, as they go? I can definitely see the potential but I feel like there's also a real potential for political clusterfucks, and it would require a lot of research probably.

See, I think this is less true than it is for a lot of other wartime AUs. Nobody likes the fucking fascists of Spain, but they're not as insanely evil as, say, the Nazis, so if you want to make Loki or someone a pro-Franco asshole, it's less offensive. Plus you've got the International Brigades, which were just so cool in terms of ideals and narrative role.

That's a fair point. I guess I'm thinking about the disorganization and infighting on the Republican side as much as anything.

I mean, I'm sure that someone could make it work. I just think it's a lot trickier than, like, Everyone Works In A Cute Coffeeshop: The Story.

I want a Legend of Zelda bakery!AU, but I don't think I want it enough to write it myself. There does exist one where Zelda is running the bakery, but I envisioned one where Link is opening up a nice bakery to rival the one Ganondorf has opened that has a monopoly on bakeries in Hyrule.

I...I've actually written one, sort of.

Well, if a retelling of Pan's Labryinth with the characters from Heroes counts, anyway. In retrospect that may have been kind of racist, but I was 17 and relatively new to writing fic, I didn't know any better. I just really liked the movie and when I saw a challenge about rewriting movies with other characters, I thought, "Hey, I know what I can do!"

So there's that, I guess?

Oh man, I'm slowly having a variant of this thought, OP.

Due to me and my alternate history-story, I've started to think of making a Malacca Sultanate AU or a Kingdom of Sarawak AU, just because I can finally have a reason to mash characters from the East and West together.

It's illogical, but at least there's a historical basis!!
