Re: why is everyone assuming op is female

(Anonymous) 2015-04-18 08:18 pm (UTC)(link)
I question it because it's such obvious trollbait. Literally all that was posted was that someone's boyfriend doesn't like their armpit hair.

This isn't about protecting men. Its about everyone assuming that as soon as body hair comes up, we must protect the women, based on literally less than ten words. Immediately anons jump in decrying how awful it is that women are pressured and how the boyfriend is awful and should be broken up with.

Based on literally less than ten words.

If anon is trying to prove FS has a knee-jerk SJ mentality, they're succeeding.

Who assumed the OP was female though? Only a few people referred to the OP with female pronouns.

Idk, all the people who responded to the original poster of this subthread saying it's obvious? Or the ones sarcastically claiming we must protect the men now?

There's a clear undertone in this thread that it's an awful thing that women have to face a lot which assumes OP is one too.

This subthread is irrelevant to the point: of course people will come in and theorize about why people could assume OP was female. You put bait out and you will catch something.

In the original thread though, there are approximately two comments referring to the OP with female pronouns. That doesn't sound like "everyone" to me.

My mistake, by "this thread" I meant the whole thread. Not this subthread only. And undertone meant undertone, as in not directly stated. The sentiment is obvious though.

But there are also a bunch of comments about people seeing no problem with opinions, people agreeing with bf that armpit hair is off-putting (for both genders), people saying to focus on other positives...

IDK, pretty varied comments if you ask me. (I'm personally in the no armpit hair preference for anyone camp.)
