Re: Reality TV
I used to be the most hardcore Project Runway stan. I had like every single designer and every single dress every done on the show memorized. And then seasons eight and nine and that one All Stars happened...
Re: Reality TV
Huh, I'm not quite sure what happened in the seasons you mentioned. I thought all those All Stars spin-offs were kinda weird, though.
Re: Reality TV
And then the producers realized they fucked up, held another All Stars challenge and gave the win to Mondo. Both the first and second All Stars spin-offs (I haven't seen the others) were ways of correctly earlier judging decisions.
And then season 9, the win went to a woman who'd been only sewing for six months and I think sewed a total of ONE SLEEVE during the entire competition. The rest was beachwear/sleeveless gowns.
And in general there was a shift towards focusing on "personal stories" and trying to showcase narrative arcs, when really all anyone wanted to do was watch a bunch of talented designers get shoved in a room together, have meltdowns, and occasionally create beautiful works of fashion.
ALSO I'M STILL NOT OVER GORDANA FROM SEASON SIX. SHE WAS ROBBED. ROBBED.
Re: Reality TV
So true about Anya - it was so strange that they let her win - I mean, I liked her, but compared to the others, her skills were kinda meh.
I think my main problem is that for all that the judges whine about the contestants ~taste levels~, their own (especially Heidi's) are really off.
Re: Reality TV
1. Heidi (as a model) loves short, tight, and shiny.
2. Michael (as a businessman) loves sellable, high-end fashion store stuff.
3. Nina (as an editor) loves editorial/photo shoot stuff.
4. The producers love to fuck with things and have the final say.
These days, I usually just browse TLo's recaps (THE unofficial PR bloggers) when I have the time/remember, and even they're pretty much bored of the show. :(
Re: Reality TV
It really is sad that it's gotten so boring they really have to milk the contestants for every bit of drama, OTT bitching and sob stories they can get.
