I don't think it counts as racism. Xenophobia, maybe, but even then it's streching it. Asian nations all have significantly worse treatment of women than any other nation outside of Arab nations. It is an actual fact that Cho's treatment of women is likely to be informed by his culture's backward attitude towards women.

it's hella racist dogg

I don't think it is. It's not talking about a racial trait ("Blacks are genetically Predisposed to crime") but a national or cultural one ("Americans eat and waste more food than any other people")

You can argue the veracity of the statement, but the statement itself is talking about the nations involved, not the racial traits of the people.

The person in question is American, though...

If you're Asian and an American are you suddenly no longer Asian by race? Wat

wat is even this comment

Asian nations (like Japan??????) "all" have significantly worse treatment of women than "any" other nation outside of "Arab" nations? Like those non-Arab African nations where genital mutilation is obligatory and child marriage is common?

wat

There's a difference between observing that a culture has problems with misogyny and stereotyping a specific person.

Though maybe in this case is was more an issue with wording? Because someone from a more misogynistic culture is more likely to have misogynistic tendencies. That said, I don't know anything about this guy, so I can't really say.

It can be delicate when different issues interact like this...

He's American. He moved to the US when he was six.

Saying that he must be misogynistic because his "culture" is Asian when he lives and grew up in America is tantamount to saying non-white people cannot ever acculturate or be "American" and must always be the culture of wherever they came from.

That's why it's racist.

Oh, okay, yeah that makes a big difference. Like I said I don't know the guy.
