It's bullshit, but that's what the job market is like these days. Places will only hire if you have all this experience and other crap. If you don't, they'll just pass you over for another person who does have it. You're probably competing for a job with people who are lying about their background too.

Yeah but your dad is right I'm afraid. easier to be found out later when you've actually started doing a good job then to not get hiried and never be able to make teh case you should stay. Assuming you are ever caught.

I also hate all these job interview tip lists that are like "oh, places just SAY you need so much experience to weed out the cowards and see if you're brave enough to apply! You don't REALLY need that two years of experience! Apply anyway!"

And I'm like, "why the fuck." Why the fuck is this designed like some kind of secret test of character or trial by fire. Shit, I'd take playing hopscotch through a viper pit over this kind of mind-game bullshit.

Then you get hiring managers like my Aunt. She told me she won't hire someone if they have experience. She said she would rather train someone to do it her way. That she hates trying to break them from their 'bad habits.'
