Re: I just let it out on tumblr but it's still kinda steaming my mustache so here you go

The post is something of an exaggeration, because you're right, even if someone gets into it for the hot people, they'll likely end up sticking around for some other reason in addition to the hot people. BUT, it's a common criticism of women in male dominated spaces (like women interested in wrestling, which is where my post stems from though I made it vague) that they are only into for the hot guys to minimize our involvment in the fandom. Well, yeah. A lot of us are in it for the hot guys, but don't want to admit it for fear of the accusation that we aren't real fans being leveled at us.

And, I'm not talking about male fans' issues. They can say they watch something for the hot people and not have their sexual agency belittled. But, if a woman says the same she is usually laughed off as just some dumb, horny chick. (Think about all the hate teen girls get for liking sexually tinged things like boy bands and Twilight. Can you even think of a comparable male dominated fandom that gets that kind of hate? Even dudes into Playboy get more respect.)

1. I'm 100% for you watching things for hot dudes and only for hot dudes. Enjoy them.

2. Men who criticize women that way are assholes.

3. Men who do the same thing get a lot of shit for it. They're called man-children and creepers. And men who like something more popular with women will get TONS of shit. Look at the Bronies and, ignoring that sizeable chunk of Bronies that are woo-woo, see how much they get shat on because they enjoy a girls cartoon.

I'm not saying this to weaken your argument. In fact, I hope it strengthens it when you run into some pseudo-man who starts spouting MRA garbage. These things cut both ways and they hurt everyone.
