A rant

(Anonymous) 2015-04-18 09:46 pm (UTC)(link)
There's nothing wrong with boycotting by itself, but I kinda roll my eyes at people who boycott EVERY company that does anything remotely "problematic" or "anything that can be seen as problematic with the right tilt".

Honestly , if you're going to boycott everyone who you disagree with you might find yourself left with nowhere to buy from or nothing to enjoy.

The same with the people who remember everything problematic a celebrity has ever said, ever. Also it hints at a childish way of looking at the world, imo.

I only get really mad with these people when they push their overboycotting on me and tell me not to shop there.

I think it's very childish, too, not to mention impractical. But then I suspect that most of the people who throw a fit over this sort of thing doesn't actually boycott every single company that's ever done something horrible, or they wouldn't be able to post their boycotts via cell phone/computer, etc. Ranting about it just makes them feel self-righteous and superior to everyone else.
