I know :( I understand why people like to think it is. It's scary to know that there are so many people out there, living their lives in agony, and nothing, no amount of money or support, can change that.

And it's only when it comes to mental illness that these levels of expectation and blame if treatment doesn't work seems to happen.

No one tells anyone with a physical disease that their illness isn't getting any better because it's somehow their fault and failure that meds or therapy isn't working, or they're just not trying hard enough.

Mental health sufferers on the other hand seem to suffer not only the stigma and judgement of their illness in the first place, but it's always their fault when help doesn't work.
