Tiny pimp, maybe?

[personal profile] comma_chameleon 2015-04-19 12:01 am (UTC)(link)
So, I finally got the release date for my first ever REAL published story!

It's on pre-order here if you're interested (and on sale for the rest of this month for the publishing company's anniversary).

I'm planning on a small blog tour to pimp it a little before the release, so if anyone knows of any LGBT writing blogs I can guest-spot on--or hosts one and wouldn't mind me having a post sometime in July!--please let me know!

Thank you! ^_^ I'm all squiggly with excitement, because having a release date actually makes it feel real.

Ohh this caught my eye! I'll keep an eye on this book

Admittedly part of the draw for me is that I love the name Elliott. But the story looks awesome.

Haha, his name came so easily to me, but Cory's took FOREVER for some reason. :| He's a genuine pain in the butt even when writing him!

Ngl, this sounds like something I'd love. [And this site is some place I'm going to have to explore!]

I ended up going to Yaoicon with a friend last year because her publisher had a booth there, and it turned out to be a great chance to scope out other publishers. I was definitely glad to go! Everyone at the LT3 booth was so nice too.

Congratulations! I'm jealous :p

I've mentioned my friend Shira Glassman before. She's been publishing a LGBT fantasy series over the last few years and she would probably be happy to host a blog post at her blog and/or point you to some other places where you could gain some visibility.

Ooh!! I'm interested...

...But the mail guys in my country would probably seize this book at customs. DAMMIT!!

Wait, do they search books at customs? They let House of Leaves and Mein Kampf be sold at Kuala Lumpur, hmm...

Haha, luckily for you (unluckily for me because I wanted a book to hold in my hands, dammit!) it's only an ebook because it's only novelette length (just over 12k).

So no seizing!

I don't know if customs seizes things, but they sure as hell like to open and fondle all of my J-Rock pamphlets and magazines. :|

Good job! I'm an indie who hasn't done a blog tour, but I've submitted a story to quite a few review blogs and have done a giveaway at the Goodreads m/m group in exchange for review, and received a few reviews from each. There's a list of blogs somewhere in the group that had a ton of dead ones last time I saw it, and honestly, most of the live ones have little to no readership. Even Reviews by Jessewave, once the biggest and busiest, is archive only now. When somebody's around and receptive to your story, though, it can be great. Brief Encounters (short-specific but on hiatus since 2013) in particular was awesome for me as a terrified wee author who'd never published anything outside fandom. Goodreads groups and individual, trusted reviewers that are open to new authors are probably a better bet for getting your name out there these days. But the best thing you can do for yourself is focus on writing full-length novels. Romance readers of every stripe prefer it long. heh

Yeah I've managed to find a few live blogs to host on yay!

I definitely want to put out something long next time. I love writing short stuff because there's that sense of 'Yay I'm done!', plus they're hella easier to edit. XD But I love reading and writing long stuff too, and from a fan perspective, longer is definitely better, because sometimes short can feel unfulfilling, or just rushed.

Yeah, shorts are still a good way to make your debut without the huge investment of a novel, it's just that the appetite for them is limited. Still, once you get a novel out and your readers want more, it'll be nice to have something already available for them to enjoy.
