I really liked this show. :(

(Anonymous) 2015-04-20 11:20 pm (UTC)(link)
It was pretty fun!

(Anonymous) 2015-04-20 10:59 pm (UTC)(link)
would anyone have cared about that unfunny show if two very favorite Internet Fandom Faves weren't the stars?

(Anonymous) 2015-04-20 11:22 pm (UTC)(link)
I think it may have suffered from the sense that the show's casting was playing to sci-fi (and counterculture) fans when the show really wasn't. It was an OK sitcom.

...aaaaaand I'm suddenly uninterested in watching it. Thanks for the heads-up nonnie!

I want someone to throw acid in her face. I really don't know why.

That is the most fucked up thing to say/think.

I hope you never, ever labor under the delusion that you're in any way a good person.

I sat in on Karen Gillan's panel at Planet Comicon a couple months ago (it was mostly to see Michael Rooker and Sean Gunn's dual panel, haha), and the way she was really enthusiastic about 'Selfie' (and how she spoke very highly of John Cho, too) made me kinda regret dismissing the show based on the title and a few promos alone. This secret's made me want to sit down and watch it if/when I have the free time to do so, haha.

(Anonymous) 2015-04-20 11:12 pm (UTC)(link)
You didn't miss much.

(Anonymous) 2015-04-21 01:08 am (UTC)(link)
I was at Planet Comicon too! :D :D :D I enjoyed both panels. Karen was adorable and befuddled. Her cousin seemed a little off. And Michael Rooker and Sean Gunn were fun but I'm desperate to know what that strangest thing they ever got from a fan was. I really hope it was something pleasant and naughty!

Yeee! Hello, fellow PCC-goer! I was only there on Saturday to see Rooker and Gunn (and get an autograph from Raphael Sbarge for a friend of mine), but it was a p. fun con and worth the 3 hour drive. Karen's panel was a delightful surprise (since I didn't originally plan on going to it).

And yeah, her cousin seemed a bit out of it. (Glad I'm not the only one who noticed) Maybe it's because she had a panel herself earlier that day or a really bad case of jet lag. D:

Hehe, yeah, that's a question I'd want an answer from them, too! I'm going to Wizard World Chicago in a few months to see Michael Rooker again, so if he has a panel there, I'll try and remember to ask him that for you. (Alas, Sean Gunn isn't doing any cons in the Midwest again any time soon)

The show was very hit or miss with me. My mom and I watched all of the episodes but some were very cringeworthy and others were great.

I agree with the OP that it would have made a better movie. I liked John Cho and Karen Gillan together and was a little disappointed with the ending.

John Cho is good in comedies. I really loved him in Go On and if I'm honest I'd rather Go On have continued then have Selfie even exist.

Karen kind of struggled with the role and her American accent was so weird to me. I also just couldn't get into the comedy of the show in general.

A lot of shows have been popping up that should be movies. You do not take Pygmalion/My Fair Lady and stretch it out into a TV show. That's just dumb, frankly.

The inverse is true in the movies. I see so many films that feel like pilots. I'd give my left nut for an Avengers TV show on the level of the movies. Fuck Agents of Shield.

I'm sad it's gone, but at the same time I wonder how long they could have gone on with such a specific premise. As you said, it might have worked better as a movie.

This was such a cute show, it got better later on and just when it was getting reallyyy interesting, they cancelled it! :((( I'm still not over it. I loved all the characters!
