The comment below mine details it pretty well, but in The Fault in Our Stars the two main characters share a kiss in the Anne Frank house and random strangers start cheering. As a Jewish person, I'm very uncomfortable with the imagery Green wants us to use - there's an interview where he basically states he wants the heroic journey of his characters to mirror that of Anne Frank's and they have to confront the reality that most people don't get that, and I'm just not cool with that as well.

Oh, found it - here's a choice quote. "And so I wanted him to go with a sort of expectation of her heroism and be sort of dashed." referring to his main character and Anne Frank, which? what? He just completely erases all the systematic suffering Anne Frank and the rest of the Jewish population went through to use her as a backdrop for his ~great romantic moment~ and no thanks.

That is...a very strange, completely out-of-touch thing to write. I'm baffled at how he didn't realize that would be in poor taste.

It's better than the tattoo artist and his wife in Philadelphia who want to visit The Anne Frank House in the Netherlands AND LAUGH ALL THE WAY THROUGH THE VISIT because they hate Jews.
